I read through all the first 3 of these, the gist is that this guy starts off by saying "I've discovered something important! Stay with me on this!", and then goes through 40 or 50 pages of mental gymnastics, some of which connect and are believable, some of which are reeeeaaally stretching for a connection and don't quite make it. Then he says "oops, out of time in this volume, make sure to buy the next one to see what's next!" Then repeat on the next volume.I stayed with it through a lot of the stretches, cuz I wanted to see what they were building up to, what they were meant to support, and I wanted to see if they did actually support it, or not.Doesn't seem like he's actually going anywhere with it. He's actually said a few times "stay with me, not sure where I'm going with this." The vibe I get is that he's just sort of improvising, playing around with vaguely new-age topics, hoping we like the improv enough to keep buying for a couple more volumes before we get bored.Which, more power to him, I guess. A lot of new age writing is really vague and shifty and not actually saying much; if this guy can play on that and make a couple grand on Gnostic jazz before we figure out he doesn't have a finale, then good for him. I won't be buying any more of these though. Most of his arguments don't actually connect, and aren't actually able to support anything, so I'm out.
I thought it was interesting to see the various fairytales being opened up like this. I didn’t even know what steganography meant before this. So I found this book both easy to read and very informative. The sort of inner secrets being revealed from them was a real trip.I don’t know what the author Timothy’s background is but he seems to have more than just an idea working with hidden data, because he has masterfully translated that experience into a book that even amateurs like me about covert communication can understand. It was fun revisiting the fictional world of the Grimm brothers and reading their stories again. It was interesting to read them again through a different lens. A lot of details about the technique used have been mentioned and it got me interested in the subject.
While I understand the reason the author went into the encryption methods; I felt he went too far with the fairy tales and explanations and too much detail in explaining the systems. As an avid student of the Gospel of Thomas and Gnostic books; I was/am really more interested in understanding his interpretations of the Thomasine text and the Gnostic Book of John with relation to the Gospels. I will try the next volume and see if he cuts to the chase. Hopeful
Reading this book, I felt like I was a horse led with blinders. Ideas were too forced and connections were weak. The Grimm fairy tales were indeed weird and I expected to be fascinated unraveling them. But connecting it to an oriental occult system? And then connecting 2 authors because they were situated a few kilometers away? Nah...
