The concept of this story struck me as interesting so I bought the book. It did not disappoint. I actually thought Cece might be haughty toward her cousin and was pleasantly surprised they got along so well. I liked the back and forth chapters until they met up. I’ll definitely look for more books from this author.
I love books that reveal the brighter side of human nature in surprising ways. Good Man, Dalton is a sweet confection you’ll savor as Midwesterner Greta Hansen arrives in New York City for a job that doesn’t exist—and discovers something better than money or fame.
Maybe the book is OK for young teenagers, imperfect naive book
All the mystery first encounter with she couldn't reveal to anyone. Trying figure out how to handle this world , finding love crazy night .
I'm going to be the odd person out on this. It's nicely written and perfect for those looking for a sweet fairy tale set in modern day Manhattan. However, and this isn't going to be an issue for most people, all of these characters- Greta, Cece, and Dalton- are so privileged that, well, I wanted to take away their credit cards and send them out to do real work. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is perfect escapist reading.
I absolutely adored this book! Ms. McQuestion took me behind the scenes into the life of the ultra rich with the characters of Cece and Greta. She also took me out on the streets of the city with Dalton to "experience" what homelessness is like and how someone who lives on the streets struggles with the conditions and circumstances they're in.Public impressions of people aren't always what their private lives are like and in the case of Cece it wasn't anything the same. Ms. McQuestion wrote an amazing story interacting the two scenarios, homelessness and high society, together with such likeable and delightful characters. I loved Dalton immediately and his heart for helping others. Cece and Greta had an instant connection with each other like they had been best friends since childhood. How the three end up meeting and the adventures that ensue are ones that bring each character to realize what's important to them and what they really want for their futures and that being who they are is enough. I really like this passage when Greta realizes this. "Ever since she was a little girl, she'd thought her cousin had the perfect life, but she'd found that appearances could be deceiving, and now she wouldn't trade places with Cece for anything."This book is a delight. It has a bit of suspense, some challenges, and heartwarming, sweet romance. For me what I felt most in the book was the compassion for others and wanting the best for them.I loved the setting of this story. I felt like I was in NYC and taking in the experience of city life. The good and the bad. From the very bottom of the social realm to the very highest. I wanted to be with the characters and be a part of their stories. I was emotionally engaged and felt like I was part of the story. This book was so much fun to read! I loved it from the very first page all the way to the last one.I want to thank Ms. McQuestion, Netgalley, and Lake Union for the awesome opportunity to read this book. It's a five star read for me. It made me happy!
Greta goes to New York thinking she will be interning with her distant and wealthy relatives' company. She's excited to meet her cousin, Cece, who is a social media darling. When she arrives, things definitely aren't they way they have been portrayed.Dalton Bishop has gone "undercover" as a homeless man in an attempt to better understand what leads people to end up that way. In reality, he comes from a wealthy family himself but has been drifting. He is struggling to figure out where he fits into the picture. He takes on this "social experiment" in an attempt to not only understand how people become homeless, but also to better understand himself.Through an ironic twist of fate, Greta, Cece and Dalton meet. The adventure continues from there as they discover more about themselves and one another. Through this story, you come to realize that things definitely aren't always as they appear, especially when portrayed on social media. The old adage that money doesn't lead to happiness really is true. When you least expect it, you may just find your "someone."Good Man, Dalton is a sweet and clean romance. This makes it suitable for a wide range of readers. Overall, I thought this was a cute story. Unfortunately, it was slow start for me and I don't know that I ever truly connected with the characters. There were a lot of issues thrown in and I felt like the author was always explaining things and I never had a chance to "feel" them. I had to push myself to get through it in parts. I do think that many people will love and connect with this book. Sometimes, things just don't work for a particular reader. I really did like the ending and how the author wrapped things up for the characters.Thank you to NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book for an honest review.
