I got this book for my six year old son. He loves animals and learning about them. First of all the pictures are great. My kids love looking at the pictures even after I've read it. The pictures are very detailed photographs and quality you would expect from a high quality science book. The pictures are detailed and very close up so the reader can see every little thing on the animals. All of the animals in the book are ones that are easily recognizable by young kids. This could easily be used to teach young ones the animals and their sounds. The sentences are simple but still filled with fun facts that kids love to learn. Science is a big part of home learning in our home and this book is now a great tool for us.The digital version fits our lives better. I have a kindle and keep books like this one on it. It allows me to take it with us to the sporting events and entertain my youngest. After receiving this book I was at a soccer tournament and sitting in the stands waiting for the next game. I pulled this book up and started reading to my youngest son. Before I knew it three other kids sat around us and were pointing and commenting on the book. One parent even came to ask me what book it was because her son had talked non-stop about it.All in all this is a great book for kids. Why I wanted this product:I am looking for selective books to engage young children and older children with learning disabilities in my classroom environment.First impressions, features of the product:This eBook suggests it contains fun facts for children about farm animals. The images are beautiful but seem miss-matched when compared to their story. I felt this book was poorly written with minimal facts about different farm animals.Using the product; fit, finish, performance, longevity:The pictures, while they are colorful and of good quality, did not match or complement the related stories in a direct way. For example one story was about farm pigs in their pen but the image/photo showed a close-up of a pigs face, not of them in their farm environment, or enclosure.What I liked:Nice quality images.What may be an issue for some?This book did indicate it was for toddlers and young leaners but I would not recommend it for small children because it contained many large words such as “herbivores.â€Final summation and rating:The animal stories were bland and I felt it would most likely bore a child after a short while. From a teachers point of view I feel it would not keep early learners engaged for any length of time. I would give this eBook 2- out of 5-stars for quality images but miss-matched stories, which were poorly written. I did receive this product at a discount/free; my thoughts expressed here are my honest assessments of the product.
Animal Farm - Fun Facts about Farm Animals is an adorable look at some of the animals that you may see on a farm. This book is perfect as a read aloud book to the younger crowd, preschool aged, with some great pictures and easy to read and understand words.I can't help but think that PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, had at least a hand in writing this book. The beginning has a disclaimer that lets us know that farm animals are bred for many reasons, and then shortly after we learn about the inhumane practice of keeping pigs in a cage. To be honest I'm probably closer to the PETA stance than not so it didn't bother me a whole lot, it sort of gave me a giggle, but parents expecting to read a sweet "duck goes quack quack" type book to their child may want to reconsider.So, yeah, I learned about most of the animals on the farm and, as it turns out, most of them are edible.I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for your honest and unbiased review.
