I placed an order for both a set of bookmarks featuring Thoreau's quotes, and a second set featuring poems by Emily Dickinson. I bought the first set for myself and the second for my sister. However, one of her quotes would perhaps help my brother understand why I love to read so much when she wrote, "There is no frigate like a book to take us lands away. Nor any courses like a page of prancing poetry." The watercolor illustrations give a quiet accompaniment to the verses and I am sure will be enjoyed. She may just keep it intact as a little booklet as she does read very much, but I am sure she will delight in the poems themselves. I might add she and I spent a year in Amherst, Massachusetts, when we were about 10, and saw the house Emily lived in for a while. Too bad our parents did not think to take a photograph of the structure.
The print is VERY small and difficult to read. The lady I bought them for can’t read them, and it’s not comfortable for me to read that tiny print, either. I wear reading glasses but this is harder to read also because the font is not easy to read. Otherwise the quotes are lovely, the pictures are old-fashioned looking but pretty. As other reviewers mentioned they are about half the length of other bookmarks but work fine. They have to be ripped apart (easy to do without tearing them) and trimmed on either side with scissors.There’s a few words of the quote on the front, and the entire quote on the back. I still like them for me because of the beauty of the quotes.
Before ordering these, please take into account the fact that the little book of bookmarks are perforated- you have to be very careful removing each one. Not a problem, however, the card stock is one that bends easily. Of course, the bookmarks really are beautiful, but again, you can tell from viewing them as separate, you can tell they are perforated. Since I can't use them one at a Time in cards, I have decided to either just give the entire booklet as a gift, or carefully separate them one at a time and then laminate them! Too much work!
I bought these when I was reading several books during a period of time. It is not a good idea to rotate a single bookmark into various books and then struggle to remember which page you were on for the other books last time. I have a book in office and several at home and find having a bunch of bookmarks useful.The quality of these is very good. However, I could not follow the poems printed on them-doesn't matter to me. The print and pictures are colorful and I like them. The size of the bookmarks is perfect as they are useful for small books too. They come together as a book and are attached with each other with perforation which comes out very neat. Recommend this item to all real book readers. Can be a good gift for someone who likes to read books.
These are thick card-board bookmarks with perforated edges and a glossy finish. They make a useful bookmark, and the art design on them is lovely. The whole book is nice as itself for a gift or giving out one or more at a time for various occasions. It's nice to send a little bookmark (like one from the booklet, as it has 12) along with a greeting card to friends and family; makes a nice gesture.
Cheap, small, and cheesy. I had ordered these as a supplement to a gift to a poetry lover but was too embarrassed to pass them on as they are very cheap looking. The drawings are ugly and look like they belong on old people's greeting card from a much earlier era.Ick.
Great for a stocking stuffer, gift to go along with a book, or a treat for yourself. The small booklet contains 12 bookmarks, each with a lovely picture and verse from Emily Dickinson. The bookmarks work well for hardback as well as smaller paperback books. I'm pleased with my purchase of these bookmarks.
These 12 bookmarks are really nice for this price. They were actually thicker than I thought they would be, which I found a plus. Just be careful when you are cutting out each bookmark because it does come in a booklet, and you have to fold and tear each bookmark out, so just be patient and careful in order to avoid tearing a piece of the bookmark. But after you do that, they look lovely and ready to be placed inside a book!
I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this... It flaps open and there's 12 of the cheapest, smallest bookmarks I've ever seen. They're super cheap card stock and not what I was expecting, oh well right?
