While the author points out some interesting theories, some of them are based on information that's either not known, or is assumed. Some are also based on known facts, and the authors insights on these are good. But concerning the areas where no facts are known, such as what George called Casey about after he left the house on the 16th, or if George did hide the first tow notice from Cindy, it's just supposition. We can assume all we want, but things like this aren't even circumstantial evidence, just assumption based on nothing much. While the Anthony family does appear to no doubt be very dysfunctional, the author appears to think George is more dysfunctional than Cindy, and here I disagree. Imo they're both very dysfunctional, and Cindy appears to be the much stronger, dominant personality, driving all the rest of the family's dysfunction. I believe Caylee died accidentally, either through getting into the pool and drowning or swallowing something and choking while unattended, and Casey panicked and covered it up, possibly due to fear of how Cindy would react. I'm not sure if George helped cover it up, possibly out of fear of Cindy, who had a strong, almost abnormal imo, attachment to Caylee, or if he truly thought Casey caused Caylee's death through negligence or murder and that's why he testified as he did. That he didn't talk to Casey much at all after the 16th is strange, considering their communication prior to that time. But he also didn't have a great relationship with Casey, and as she was gone after the 16th, maybe he was enjoying a more peaceful home with Cindy and had no reason to want to contact Casey and disturb his peace. As Cindy was contacting Casey all that time, and getting upset, maybe George just decided to let the dominant person handle it and not interfere, or Cindy's wrath would descend on him.The author didn't mention Casey borrowing a neighbor's shovel shortly after the 16th, which I believe is a significant issue. Imo that's the timeframe when Casey likely placed Caylee in the woods. And while many who knew Casey said she was a good mother, they also said she didn't watch Caylee, but would go in another room while on the computer or the phone. A good mother doesn't leave a child unattended, especially if the child is known to stick rocks, dog food, etc , in her mouth, head straight for any pool, etc. I'm sure Casey loved Caylee, but she does appear neglectful at times. Simple neglect like this has been responsible for other accidents and deaths happening throughout time. And while the family was dysfunctional, I still find it hard to believe most anyone, regardless of being dysfunctional like the Anthonys, would cover up an accidental death. Maybe those who have been abusing their child since birth would, as we know some have. But Caylee wasn't abused. Casey maybe would coverit up because of how she knew Cindy would react, but I can't picture George covering it up, not even to placate Cindy. And being a former cop, George would have known how to cover it up much better than it was. So, no, imo George wasn't there when Caylee died, and he didn't cover it up. He may have said one thing while with Cindy, and another when he was with the cops, but imo that's because he was afraid of Cindy. I don't think he was afraid of losing his marriage so much as he was afraid of Cindy and what she might do to him. Maybe she has something on him from long ago, before Caylee died, and is blackmailing him; she certainly never left him if all the alleged affairs George had were true and bothered her.Even today it appears Cindy thinks Casey is completely innocent, while George appears to think there was an accident and Casey covered it up. Casey learned her behaviour from her parents, and both failed her, imo. What's really sad is a beautiful little girl lost her life, we don't know how or why, she was left out like trash, and no one was held accountable for that. What was likely an accidental death caused by Caylee not being supervised, was covered up for unfathomable reasons, and whoever did that got away with it. Imo that person was Casey. Maybe someday she'll finally tell the truth. Though if there's a chance she can be charged with something to do with neglect or with leaving Caylee in the woods, don't count on it.
This book brings very interesting details to light that almost all of the world ignored. I think it is a great look at another side of the case that most people have never thought about. No one wants to believe she truly may have not been a monster. Why I may think she should be in prison this is a great look at the other side of that.
I was wondering if Casey really killed her daughter. I'm still sure but I think ol' Grandpa was very involved in this poor baby's murder.of course when precious was in the trunk of Casey's car... I don't know; it's a lot to think about. I enjoyed reading this book! A lot of details we would've never known.
I found the author's speculative style to be very engaging, and definitely provides a contrasting opinion to the ubiquitous media coverage of this case. Though the facts of the case are discussed in detail and can be a bit repetitive at times, the book covers a lot of information that was new to me. It's a sad, sordid case, but the fresh perspective is helpful.P.S. Knowing that the author stands with the "intruder theory" on JBR, would love to read a similar book from her about that.
I was very firm that Casey kill her child but this book opens you up for other possibilities. Very good book.
Gives a great deal of insight as to how and why Casey Anthony had to be acquitted. Good read for those wondering if the justice system worked properly or was broken during this trial.
I've read the original Reddit threads a few times, and if you've read them this is still well worth the read. S.K. Patton makes a compelling argument that the trial was much more complicated than the media coverage. Interesting and thoughtful.
This was a real five star read for me. The information was so clearly laid out and easy to follow. I enjoyed the way the author presented their own thoughts alongside the facts of the case, without forcing you to accept that their thoughts are the only way to feel. Clearly written and very informative.
